Sushi Cafe Sacramento

Is there any place in Sacramento that is similar to Santa Monica 3rd St. Promenade?

Los Angele’s Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade is one of the coolest, hippest, funkiest places I’ve been to. It has lots of funky shops like Metaphysical-New Age, Hindu and Buddhist imports, cool clothing shops, and sidewalk cafe style restaurants — sushi, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, just about all types of food. 3rd Street Promenade has street performers…bands, mimes, belly dancers, “performance artists”, Hare Krishna, etc. There is great people watching…punks, goths, hippies, you name it, they are there. This place is so groovy! I’m moving from Southern California to the Sacramento area in a few months and was wondering if Sacramento has anything this hip and funky with the same kind of groovy vibe to it.

Yes, they exist in Sacramento. I would start at mid-town, lots of counter culture there as well as the mainstay of the Gay Community as well. Old Sacramento has some interesting things as well. Check out the 2nd Saturday Artwalk in midtown Sac.

For a lot of what you want though, you might do well to go to SF once in awhile. That’s got LA beat every way you can think of.
