Pressure Cooker Cooking Times – Will They Really Save Me Time?
OK, so you are looking at pressure cookers and you are wondering if pressure cooker cooking times will really save you a substantial amount of time. This is something many people wonder about. Will it save you more time to get home and quickly make something in a pressure cooker or will it save you more time if you use a slow cooker and start cooking in the morning already.
Well, the answer to this is not always as easy and as strait forward as one may think. Why? The thing is there are more that simply the cooking times involved.
How well organized you are and how much time you have in the mornings also plays a role. To successfully use a slow cooker, you need to be terribly organized. You have to get up a little earlier in the morning to get everything ready and to get the slow cooker going.
If you are anything like me, this is a major issue. I hate getting up early in the morning and it simply does not work for me to get everything going in the morning. To be honest I hardly have time for a cup of coffee in the morning, let alone getting dinner on the way!
The fast pressure cooker cooking times, save you all this hassle. You do not have to be so terribly organized as you can get home at night and have dinner on the table in no time with the pressure cooker. If you do not have defrosted meat ready, you can quickly defrost it and have the meal read in record time.
Here are a few examples of pressure cooker cooking times to give you and idea:
- Pinto Beans, soaked, using natural release-1 to 3 minutes
- Beef pot roast, 1-1/2 lb to 2 lbs. – 35 to 40 minutes
- Chicken breast, frozen, boneless, skinless – 7 to 10 minutes
- Chicken, whole 3 to 4 lb. – 18 to 25 minutes
So, I think this makes it very clear, pressure cooker cooking times are substantially faster and it will make your life all that much easier.
